Ashley Young was born and raised in Seattle WA where she was classically trained starting at the age of 6. By the age of 12, Young began exploring other styles of music such as blues, jazz & gospel and began performing at the age of 16. She obtained a BA in Music at Whittier College in CA where she directed the Whittier College Jazz Ensemble for 4 years under the instruction of Music Professor and Grammy award winning jazz flautist, Danilo Lozano.
After college, Young pursued a professional career as a blues & jazz pianist/singer in the NW as well as began her teaching practice in her home. Young was an instructor for several academies, schools, music camps and workshops along the West Coast, including the Port Townsend Centrum Workshops.
Coming from a family of educators, teaching comes 2nd nature to Ashley. It is her passion to work closely and patiently with children & adults to help them excel in their musical goals while having fun. Not only does she want to teach her students music, but also build their confidence, posture and faith in themselves.
Today, Ashley Young is the instructor and founder of Harmony Tree Piano Lessons, as well as a mother of three children and an active musician in her community.
